A & J Guthrie have been providing agricultural contracting and plant hire services for over 40 years. We are a family run business  situated near Consett in South East Northumberland and undertake work within a thirty mile radius.

We have progressed from general farm contracting to more specialised  works for clients including Local Authorities, Conservation groups and Charitable trusts.

We specialise in the installation and re-instatement of countryside footpaths, bridleways and farm tracks and have devised a system using a specially constructed box grader to lay the stone and carboniferous dust from varying depths from 10mm to 200mm, and in widths from 1.5m to 3m.

We have found the system to be very successful and cost effective to our clients.

We also specialize in pond creation, conservation work, ditching, drainage, hedge cutting and flailing.

To date we still work for many of the same local farmers and estates since the company was formed in 1972 and pride ourselves on giving an excellent service supplied by fully qualified, experienced operatives and all work is personally overseen by Andy and/ or his son Richard.
